"We LOVED the veggies and fruit! Great summer!"
Nelle Schantz
How do we order our box?Step 1 – ORDER: Each week, you’ll receive an email from us listing the contents of the boxes, add-ons available, and any fruit boxes we will deliver the following week. You'll also hear about news from the farms and/or any interesting info about products coming up. Our"default" box is delivered automatically and contains the most popular items for the current harvest, with plenty of each. Many members accept the default box each week, but some prefer to go to the site and choose their own box since the alternates usually contain 1-2 different items from the original. So one alternate box might have a double peach-share, or another might have a hot pepper mix, or it might even be a "surprise" box from the farm, just for fun. You can further customize your box by adding extra items(extra shares of a fruit or veggie, honey, local bread, sauces, etc). Here's what was in ONE of our boxes the week of July 6/7, 2011: Remember, there were FIVE boxes to choose from that week. And this one was almost overflowing: Personal Watermelon Roma Tomatoes Sweet Red Bell Peppers Blueberries 6 ears of corn Cucumbers Red Potatoes (2 quarts)
Of course, you can SKIP one week or multiple weeks whenever you'd like for any reason. And you don't pay for a box if you skip. Step 2 – PAY: When you enroll, we will bill your account for the seasonal enrollment fee of $18.00. We will renew your membership automatically and bill you the enrollment fee again each year in January. Once the season starts, you will pay $23 each week for a standard box plus the price of any add-ons. All prices include sales tax and the cost of delivery. The enrollment fee helps us to cover the costs of boxes and containers that don’t last more than one season and all payments are processed using a credit or debit card. Step 3 – RECEIVE and ENJOY: On Wednesday or Thursday, depending on your neighborhood or office, you will receive delivery of your produce box! Your produce will have been harvested at LOCAL farms in North Carolina, at the peak of ripeness, gathering as much nutrients as possible from the environment! We visit every farm we buy from, and that would be hard to do if we used farms in California or Florida. We then deliver the box DIRECT to you. (Much better than the often 3-4 DAY old produce at the grocery store!) Step 4 – REUSE AND RECYCLE: Save any small cartons and place them inside your box. On the next delivery morning, remember to place them inside your empty box and set in the delivery location. We’ll pick up and use them all over again! |
