Peel the rutabaga using a vegetable peeler and cut into ½–¾ inch cubes.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes, swirling occasionally, until the butter foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat immediately.
Toss the cubed rutabaga with the brown butter. Season generously with salt and pepper.
