Our Members Made July Delicious!

There’s something sacred about eating with the seasons and letting the rhythm of the land guide our plates, our cravings, and even our memories. This July, our members helped write a beautiful story of community, nourishment, and impact, one delicious bite at a time.

By simply enjoying the season’s best at home, our members made a real difference for our local growers. In July alone, we delivered:

5,038 peaches 🍑 from Chappell Farms, PeeDee Orchards, and Happy Dirt's organic local growers
3,454 ears of sweet corn 🌽 from Fresh Pik Produce in Wilson, NC
1,837 pints of blueberries 🫐 from Fresh Pik Produce and Happy Dirt's organic local growers
1,017 mini watermelons 🍉 from Fresh Pik Produce
926 jalapeño peppers 🌶️ from Lee's Produce
778 pounds of new red potatoes 🥔 from Wise Farms
2,132 pounds or pints of tomatoes 🍅 from partners like Red Hawk Organic Farms, Fresh Pik Produce, Lee's Produce, In Season Farms, and Happy Dirt's organic local growers

And that’s just a taste of what we channeled from across the state into Triangle homes this month.

These fruits and vegetables weren’t just beautiful and flavorful. They were reminders that fresh, local food has the power to nourish everyone. Your orders helped channel thousands of dollars back to our North Carolina farm partners, strengthening our food system from the soil up.

But the impact didn't stop there.

These impressive stats don't even include the local food we purchased for our special programs! This month, we fulfilled 1,835 boxes for non-profit partners like Meals on Wheels Durham or the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC! These boxes reached food-insecure families across our region, bringing the joy of summer produce like mini watermelons, sweet corn, and cucumbers into homes where access to healthy, local food is often limited.

Together, we’re not just building a more connected food system. We’re creating a more just one, too.

One of the most magical parts of The Produce Box is the way it brings you into rhythm with nature.

As you can see, in July our boxes were brimming with sun-soaked summer staples: juicy peaches, sweet corn, refreshing watermelon, and vibrant tomatoes. Next month will make for a different line up! Soon, you’ll start to see the first butternut squash, fresh-picked figs, muscadines, and hearty greens make their way onto our menu.

Eating seasonally invites us to savor what’s here now while trusting that something new and nourishing is always on the way. It teaches us presence, gratitude, and delight.
